DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios Florida is a colorful and fun interactive area that is great for young kids visiting the Universal parks. In this post I will share what there is to do at DreamWorks Land and if you should include it in your day.
DreamWorks Land is made for the kids at Universal. It has interactive areas, character meet and greets, a kiddie-coaster, and a stage show.
It is a small area that replaced the Curious George, Barney and Fievel area at the park. I think it was a great decision to update this land with more familiar characters that include Shrek, Trolls, and Kung Fu Panda.
What to Do at DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios
There is one ride in DreamWorks Land. It is the Trolls Trollercoaster kiddie roller coaster. This is usually a “first time” roller coaster for many kids and it is not intense at all. The minimum height requirement in 36″.
The DreamWorks Land area is mostly explore at your own pace. There are a few showtimes and character meeting times and you should check the Universal App for details on your day of visit.
- DreamWorks Character Zone features Gabby from Gabby’s Dollhouse plus other DreamWorks Characters may make appearances.
- Shrek’s Swamp Meet is an outdoor meet and greet with Shrek and Donkey. Donkey talks and interacts with guests making this a unique experience.
- King Harold’s Swamp Symphony is an interactive area where guests can stomp on the lily pads to make King Harold frogs sing different chords.
- Shrek’s Swamp for Little Orgres is a playground that includes a small splash pad.
- Mama Luna Feline Fiesta is a screen based interactive area.
- Poppy’s Playground is a small play area with tiny mushroom swings, best for toddlers and under. Guests can also meet Poppy nearby.
- Po’s Kung Fu Training Camp is another play area with a water bucket spilling every so often. You will get soaked if you stand under. Guests can walk around this area and avoid the soak zones.
- Po Live! is an interactive outdoor show. Guests can talk and train with an animated Po live on the screen.
- DreamWorks Imagination Celebration features all the characters from DreamWorks land is this singing and dancing stage show. This show has bench seating and is indoors.
Dining Options at DreamWorks Land
Swamp Snacks and Trolls Treats are the two dining areas at DreamWorks Land. There is no sit-down dining in the land.
Swamp Snacks has options like the Shrekzel and Swamp Dog. Trolls Treats has ice cream treats for guests to try. Both are great spots for a snack to share.
So…should you include DreamWorks Land in your visit to Universal Studios Florida? If visiting with kids under 6, yes! They will enjoy it! For guests visiting with older kids you may want to walk through to check it out or skip it. Depends on what your family likes.
We like meeting Shrek and checking out the area as well as taking a ride on the Trollercoaster if the line is short. If none of that interests your group your time is better spent riding the other rides at the park.
Overall DreamWorks Land at Universal Studios is a great addition to the park. I would love for them to continue building it out and add an indoor boat ride attraction for the whole family, but this is more a “dream big idea” than anything.
What they did add allows room for little kids visiting Universal Orlando to have a place to play and meet their favorite characters. My fingers are crossed for future growth!
