Looking for a fun place to eat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios? This Roundup Rodeo BBQ review will share all the details about the Toy Story themed restaurant at the Walt Disney World park.
I was really excited when I first learned about the new BBQ restaurant opening at Toy Story Land. The area really needed a sit-down place to eat and I thought this would be a fun atmosphere for families.
When it first opened….it didn’t get great reviews. I was bummed, but I still wanted to check it out to see what my family of five thought, and to share it with you.
Let’s get into all the details of the restaurant and my review of Roundup Rodeo BBQ.
Atmosphere
The restaurant is colorful and busy. If you are looking for quiet ambiance you won’t find it here. The cast members are friendly but move at a fast pace.
Your meal moves quick here because they are trying to seat as many people as possible. We didn’t feel rushed but this is not a place to sit and relax for a few hours.
Guests are shrunk to the size of Andy’s toys and enter the backyard for a BBQ with the toys. Roundup Rodeo BBQ is not a quick-service, it is a table service meal. (More on menu and reservations later in this post.)
The big question…Is Roundup Rodeo BBQ a character meal? Sadly-no. It is not. Characters will not visit you during your meal and there are not characters walking around.
The restaurant is interactive and during your meal you will hear “Andy’s coming” at that point everyone freezes. Servers, hosts, all cast members, and guests. It is a fun little surprise during the visit.
Where is Roundup Rodeo BBQ
Roundup Rodeo BBQ is located at Toy Story Land in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests will need a park ticket for Hollywood Studios and I highly recommend making reservations.
This is a very popular place to eat and reservations go fast. They do have walk-in reservations but if you have your heart set on eating here make a reservation.
Pricing
Lunch and dinner are offered at Roundup Rodeo BBQ. The price is $49.00 (adults) and $27.00 (kids 3-9). If you are using the Disney Dining plan it is 1 credit.
Food
The food is served family style. Everything is brought to your table. You can get seconds of anything you want and as much as you want. Fountain drinks, iced tea, and milk are included with your meal. Specialty drinks and alcohol are available at an additional cost.
Once you decide on the platter of meats or the plant-based options your server will bring you your drinks and starters. The watermelon and rolls were a hit with my family! We asked for seconds of both!
Next up is your main course. This is a platter of meat and different sides. The best part about this is there are so many options at the table. If you have a picky eater they should be able to find something they like and you can ask for more of it.
The Potato Barrels (Tater Tots) and Cowpoke Corn on the Cob(Grilled Street Corn) were some of my favorites. The chicken was also very good! I like that the meal is served family style, it gives kids (and adults) a chance to try a little bit of everything. This may be the first time kids get to try ribs or brisket.
After you have had your fill of BBQ, be sure to save room for dessert. Each guest can choose one dessert option. The advantage to having 5 of us is that we choose 1 of each and shared!
They were all delicious! It really depends on your preference. I liked the Blueberry and Lemon Cheesecake and the Apple Pie.
Roundup Rodeo BBQ Review
My first impressions is that Roundup Rodeo BBQ is a great addition to Toy Story Land. It adds a fun sit-down restaurant to an area of the park that severely lacks seating and is a place the whole family can enjoy.
Another themed restaurant at Hollywood Studios just adds to the options for families and I think it is a positive one.
While I don’t think this is the best BBQ I have ever had it is not the worst. The food was good and we would visit again.
One tip I want to share is to make reservations before you arrive, as early as possible. Once you arrive at the restaurant check-in on the My Disney Experience app. I screenshot the process below. This will speed along your check-in and ideally shorten your wait time.
The first thing you want to do is check-in and confirm your party. We confirmed that we were there. Then you answer a few dietary questions and add your phone number so they can text you when your table is ready.
Then you wait! Our wait was a bit longer than we hoped, around 25 minutes. If you can arrive early for your reservation and give yourself time before your next activity. Dining was around 45 minutes once we sat down.
Overall we enjoyed Roundup Rodeo BBQ and think it is a great dining spot for families at Hollywood Studios.
