Entertainment During Halloween at Magic Kingdom

  • Mickey’s Boo-to-You Parade is one of my favorite parades ever. It starts with the Headless Horseman and includes favorite villain and Disney characters. There is usually a early and late parade each night.
  • Disney’s Not-So-Spooky Spectacular hosted by Jack Skellington will feature projections on the castle and fireworks.
  • Hocus Pocus Villain Spelltacular show featuring the Sanderson Sisters.
  • Dance Party with Lilo, Stitch and Angel
  • Cadaver Dans Barbershop Quartet in Frontierland

Character Meet and Greets

Characters can be found throughout the park dressed up in their best Halloween costumes. Character meet and greets are very popular at the party and often have long wait times usually over 2 hours.

  • Mickey and Minnie dressed in their Halloween costumes will meet guests in Town Square
  • Winnie the Pooh in his Bumblebee Costume

Special Dining Options

  • Trick or Treat locations throughout the park.
  • Disney’s No-So-Spooky Spectacular Fireworks Dessert Party

Tips for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

  • Party hours are 7:00pm to midnight. Guests with a party ticket may enter Magic Kingdom at 4:00pm.
  • Visiting Magic Kingdom for the day? you must have a theme park ticket and an event ticket. The party typically sells out especially as we get closer to Halloween dates.
  • Party includes shorter wait times for attractions, Halloween themed entertainment, character meet and greets, and snacks/treats.
  • Costume Rules: Children under 13 may wear masks, guests over 14 may not. Read full guidelines here.
  • Download the My Disney Experience app before you arrive. This will give you the most updated show times, character encounters, and ride information.
  • Book October dates early. Dates in late October, especially the weekend before Halloween and October 31, sell out weeks or even months in advance. If you have a specific date in mind, buy as soon as tickets go on sale.
  • Plan your must-dos before you arrive. The party goes fast. Decide in advance whether your priority is rides, character meets, the parade, or the fireworks, you likely can’t do all of them deeply in one night. We prioritize the Boo-to-You Parade and ride time over character meets since meet and greet lines can run over two hours.

Lightning Lane at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party

Lightning Lane works differently during the Halloween party than during a regular park day. Guests can use Lightning Lane reservations until approximately 6:00pm. Once the party officially begins at 7:00pm, Lightning Lane is no longer offered for the evening.

This is actually one of the best parts of the party. Because Lightning Lane is not available, wait times for attractions drop dramatically. Most rides have standby waits of 10–20 minutes during the party, even for popular attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON Lightcycle/Run. This is one of the biggest perks of attending and a major reason the party is worth the ticket price for families who want to ride a lot.

Our strategy: Skip Lightning Lane and Magic Kingdom day tickets and head to the park for the party. You will be able to experience most of the most popular attractions and rides, without the large crowds.

With that being said, you can’t do everything at the party and ride all the rides in one night. Before you arrive decide what your priorities are and plan your visit around them.

If you visit with small children consider a nap before the party. On our first party we didn’t plan it right and by 9:00pm all my kids were crashing.

For our next visit kids were older, we rested before, and we ended up staying until 1:00am. We got in line at midnight for our last ride of the night.

Is Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party Worth It

Most people will agree that Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party is a super fun event. The parades and shows are really well done and the access to shorter wait times is a huge perk.

But…the ticket is really expensive. Starting at $119.00 a night it might not be worth it for your trip.

If you want to visit at night with low crowds, the cost of the ticket is typically lower than the cost of daily admission, this might be a good choice for your family.

If you are visiting with older kids and you want to take advantage of the rides the party might be a good option. You will likely get more done, have lower wait times, and avoid the daytime temperatures.

We prefer riding the attractions with short wait times and take full advantage of this during the event. This means we often miss character meetings but still make time to see the parade.

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party Pumpkins

Below is my review of Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party. I am sharing what I thought of our visit, not based on cost. Only you can decide if it is in your budget for your Disney vacation.

MNSSHP is a “must-do” for every Walt Disney World loving family. There are a few pros and cons to the party, but we were really happy we did it.

If you can make it work with your budget I think it is worth it. We really enjoyed seeing Magic Kingdom decorated for the holidays and I loved all the special attention to details during the event.

Magic Kingdom is decorated during the day as well but you don’t have the same entertainment as during the event.

There are pumpkins everywhere!! Mickey Pumpkins line the streets of Main Street and the entire parks has a different feel to it.

Although we visited in August the Halloween spirit was all around us. It was exciting and Disney made it fun to go trick or treating through the park.

I also loved the BOO to You parade. It is one of the best parades and can only be viewed during the Halloween party. We watched the parade from Frontierland and enjoyed less crowds and great views.

A few minutes before the start of the parade the Headless Horseman rides down the street. This can’t be missed!!

We arrived about 30 minutes before the start of the parade to get a spot. Once we have a spot my husband usually picks up a snack but this time we snacked on our trick or treating candy!

We also made it a priority this year to see the Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks show. It was incredible and I would love to see it again!

We arrived a bit late to get a close view but still thought it was a great addition to the party.

The best tips I can share is to research the things you want to do before you arrive at the park, then plan your night around those activities. No matter what you choose to do you will have an amazing time.

Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party can be a great addition to your Disney trip. Guests of all ages will enjoy the special event.
