Are you planning a visit to Seabreeze Park Rochester? It is home to the oldest wooden coaster in America and a unique park for families of all ages. In this post I share how to plan your day at Seabreeze that includes rides and the water park and maximizes fun.
It is a yearly summer tradition for families in Rochester to visit Seabreeze Park. We have been visiting since my kids were small and could only ride the kiddie rides.
Now they head straight to the thrilling coasters and water slides. It is fun to experience the park in new ways summer after summer.
On our most recent visit we planned to spend the day at Seabreeze that included the rides and the water park. Even though it is a small park there were a few mistakes I made and ways I planned that will help you plan your day at the park.
Seabreeze Park Rochester
Seabreeze is an amusement park in Rochester, New York located over looking Lake Ontario. It includes more than 60 attractions including thrill rides, water rides, and kiddie rides. Some of the rides are over 100 years old giving it a nostalgic feel while offering unique rides and attractions.
The size of the park makes it a great first time amusement park or one you revisit year after year. It doesn’t take a lot of planning but I recently spent the day there and wanted to share a few tips for having a successful day at this Rochester amusement park.
Seabreeze Tickets
Seabreeze tickets cost $43.99 for the day. This includes the rides and water park and is for guests over 48″ tall. For guests under the ticket cost is $31.99. They also offer other ticket options and those can be found here.
Roller Coasters at Seabreeze
There are 4 roller coasters at Seabreeze. There is one for little kids called the Bear Trax. This is a favorite with kids. When my kids were small they would ride over and over again.
The three big coasters are Bobsleds (38″), Jack Rabbit (48″) and Whirlwind (48″). These are all part of my top ten rides at Seabreeze and each offer a unique experience.
Kiddie Rides
There are 7 specific kiddie rides and they are all centrally located within the park. This is really helpful if you are visiting with different age groups. If you have older kids that want to ride the big coasters, the younger kids can hang out at the kiddie rides, and it doesn’t take a lot of time to navigate the park.
My Favorite Rides
For being a small amusement park, Seabreeze has a lot of great rides. My can’t miss ones are Bobsleds, Jack Rabbit, Log Flume, and the Train. The Carousel is another one that I like to ride if we have time. These rides all have a nostalgic feel and are unique to the park.
Itinerary for a Day at Seabreeze Park
Seabreeze is a fairly easy park to visit. You don’t need to do much planning before you arrive but after spending a full day there that included rides and the water park I wanted to share how we planned our itinerary at the park.
First pack a backpack that includes a water bottle, snacks, and anything you might need during your day at the park (medicine, sunscreen, etc.) There are lockers at the park, cubbies for your things when you ride, and guests are permitted to go in and out of the park if you need things from your car.
If you are planning on a day that includes the water park and rides this is what I suggest:
Arrive about 5 minutes before park opening. During our visit the park opened at 11:00. We walked through security and the ticket gate, then immediately headed to secure a few chairs at the waterpark.
These are near the wave pool and you should go to the right once you enter the water park. Wear your bathing suits under your clothes to the park and pack your backpack with your change of clothes and towels.
We also packed sandwiches and snacks for lunch. Once our spot was secured we did the slides and water park and had lunch there. We spent about 2.5 hours at the water park.
I suggest wearing flip flops/crocs/water shoes to the park and then changing into sneakers when you are done. I did not pack flip flops and the ground was so hot walking around the water park.
The busiest water slides are the Helix, Hydro Racer, Vortex, and Rip Tide Tube Slide. All the big water slides are tubes or mats. The Rip Tide and Helix offer double or single tubes for your ride.
After you are done with the water park, pack up and change, then head out to your car to drop off bathing suits, wet towels, and cooler from lunch. My husband left his shoes in the car, because he wore his flip flops to water park, when he went to the car to switch out our things he switched into his sneakers.
This was a smart move and it was very convenient to walk back to the parking lot to drop off water park stuff, repack backpack if we needed to, and not have to purchase a locker.
Then we spent the next 3 hours riding the rides. We were visiting with 5 kids all over 48 inches so we didn’t spend anytime riding the kiddie rides but we did ride everything else.
The lines were so short. The longest wait time was around 15 minutes for the Bobsleds. This is slow loading and usually one of the longest lines at the park. The kids got to ride Bobsleds and Jack Rabbit multiple times.
Our final ride of the day was the Log Flume which has the steepest hill of its kind in the country. I rode in front and it really is thrilling!!
Around 5:00 we all started to get hungry for dinner. There are a few different places to eat at Seabreeze that have pizza, chicken fingers, burgers, and tacos but we find the pricing to be a bit high.
A large pizza was $31.00, which isn’t terribly priced for amusement park food, but we were ready to leave the park so we decided to eat at a nearby restaurant.
There are many restaurants around the park if you decide to leave for a meal or you can pack your food. We saved a lot of money by bringing in our lunch. There are also sweet treats like Dippin Dots, Fried Dough, and Ice Cream you may want to budget for.
Seabreeze Park is such a great place to visit during the summer months in Rochester. From the unique rides to the easy to navigate park we really enjoyed our visit.
