Wickham Farms is a Rochester area farm located in Penfield, NY. It offers fall activities for guests of all ages. Today I am sharing what to expect when visiting Wickham Farms and how to plan your visit.
My kids have grown up visiting Wickham Farms-our first visits being at their original location. Over the last few years Wickham Farms has grown and become a popular fall destination for families in the Rochester area.
From specialty food items to family fun activities like apple picking and a corn maze there is a lot to do during your visit to Wickham Farms.
Let’s get into all the details to help you plan you visit.
Tips for Planning Your Visit
- Purchase tickets before you arrive. This will make checking in and receiving your barnyard bracelet quicker.
- If you want to avoid crowds plan on arriving at opening or in the last few hours of the evening. These times of day will see lower crowds.
- Dress for the weather. Fall in our area can be chilly in the morning and evenings but feel like summer mid-day. I like to pack a fleece hoodie or light jacket for those moments.
- Take advantage of the fall decor and snap some family photos. The ambiance of the farm offers some great spots for family pictures.
- Consider a weekday visit to avoid the weekend crowds and have more of the farm to yourself.
Cost of Admission
An important factor in planning your day is cost of admission and what is included in that cost. Admission varies depending on day of the week you visited and if you include apple picking in your visit.
For visits Monday, Tuesday, Thursday:
- $21.95 for Pick & Play, includes all barnyard activities and apple picking
- $16.95 for Barnyard Admission Only
- $11.95 Apple Picking Only
For weekend visits:
- $28.95 for Pick & Play
- $23.95 Barnyard Admission
- $11.95 Apple Picking
All guests entering the Barnyard area must pay the admission fee. There is not a spectator fee to walk around the farm, everyone pays the Barnyard admission.. Prices are subject to change and are accurate as of publication date.
What is there to do at Wickham Farms
If you purchase a Barnyard admission you will have access to all the activities on the farm. These include:
- Red Barn Railroad
- Corn a Copia
- Sandboxes
- Zach the Singing Tractor
- Hayrides
- Farm Animals
- Obstacle Courses
- Jumping Pillows
- Slides
- Mini Golf
- Hay Trolley (Small Zipline for all ages)
- Lawn Games
- Lots of Fall Photo-Ops
- Corn Maze
- Food and Dessert Options (Extra Cost)
Guests can also include apple picking in their day and browse the farm store. There is a lot to keep families busy at Wickham Farms.
There are also many different food options from the bakery, pizza kitchen, and grill. There is also Kettle Corn, a Cidery (21+), Apple Cider Slushies, and Apple Cider Donuts.
If you are planning a day at the farm be sure to stop for a treat or lunch, or grab some donuts from the bakery as you exit the farm.
Wickham also has pumpkins for purchase but they do not have pumpkin picking. Apple picking and flower picking(during the summer months) are the only “picking” activities offered.
Best Age for Wickham Farms
The best age for Wickham Farms is 3-10 years old. Kids this age will really enjoy the unlimited play across the Barnyard. The Hay Trolleys are a really fun activity for the older kids and the corn a copia is great for smaller children.
The Corn a Copia is a giant corn barn. Inside it is filled with corn, much like a sandbox! Be prepared to find the kernels everywhere after playing. This is open to adults and children.
Final Thoughts
Wickham Farms is a gorgeous farm. The decor and ambiance is exactly what fall should feel like. I have heard complaints over the cost of admission, and I do understand that perspective, but if you plan on doing all the activities with your children-it can be worth it.
When my kids were school aged kids they really enjoyed the activities offered at Wickham Farms. We created many fun memories and it was a great fall activity to enjoy as a family.
