I stayed at the cheapest hotel at Disney World with my family of five. In this post I will share my Disney’s All Star Sports review and if it is worth staying at during your Disney World vacation.
When you think of cheap hotels you don’t usually think of Disney World, but the Disney value resorts offer great deals for families looking to stay on a budget for their Disney vacation.
Today I want to share our experience at the least expensive Disney value resort: Disney’s All Star Sports.
I think the All-Star resorts have a bad rap and I don’t really understand why. As far as value resorts go they are a solid choice for your Disney vacation.

Disney’s All Star Sports Resort
Disney’s All Star Sports Resort is themed to sports. Each section of the resort has a specific sports theme. They range from football, baseball, tennis, basketball, and surfing.
If you have a sports fan in your group they will love the larger than life photo-ops of basketballs and footballs.
We stayed at the Hoops Hotel section and it was a 5-7 minute walk to the lobby. The hotel is motel style with outdoor halls and rooms that exit outside. There are 3 levels to each building with stairs and elevator access.
All guests receive early theme park entry 30 minutes before park opening time as well as on-site bus transportation to and from the parks.
Guests staying at a Disney World resort can also make their Lighting Lane reservations 7 days in advance of their check-in day.
The All Star Sprots Resort is a basic resort that can be a great option for your next Disney trip.
Update: From January 2026-late April 2026 the Surf’s Up Pool and Splash area will be closed. The Grand Slam pool will be open and guests can also use the other All Star Resort pools.
All Star Sports Disney Rooms
Guests staying at All Star Sports Resort have two options: Standard rooms and preferred rooms.
The preferred rooms are usually located in the Surf’s Up area which is the closest to the lobby and food court. If you have mobility issues you may want to consider the preferred rooms, we didn’t feel it necessary for our visit.
Most of the rooms at All Star Sports are renovated but it is ongoing. You can talk to a cast member or call before arriving to ask about your room. The Hoops Hotel rooms were renovated during our summer 2024 visit.
The standard rooms and preferred rooms are the same except for location. We booked 2 connecting rooms at the hotel.
The standard rooms have 1 queen bed and 1 queen size table bed. There is a beverage cooler, hairdryer, ironing board, and in-room safe.
The rooms are not themed to the sport section that you are staying in. They have minimal sports theme that is the same across the resort.
Can I Family of Five Stay at a Disney All Star Resort?
Yes, but you have to book two rooms. If you are traveling as a family of 5 or more you need to book connecting rooms at the resort.
This can often be a cost barrier but for us it was less expensive to stay at All Star Sports with 2 rooms rather than Caribbean Beach with the 5th sleeper or a deluxe resort.
Two rooms cost around $300.00 a night and Caribbean Beach cost around $295.00 a night. We went with the two rooms because it was a better deal. Two bathrooms, 4 queen size beds, and more space for my family.
If you are visiting Disney with teens I highly suggest booking connecting rooms. It was so nice to have the extra space for everyone to sleep and relax.
Cost
The average cost for a night at All Star Sports is $150.00/night. This is comparable to the other All-Star Resorts but less than Pop Century and Art of Animation.
The preferred rooms typically cost $30.00 more a night that the standard rooms. The cost of your room will fluctuate depending on time of year you visit and special offers available.
Always check the website for the best deals and take advantage of deals if you have flexible dates. We also partner with Undercover Tourist for Disney hotel deals. I suggest comparing both for the best savings.
Pool
There are two pools at All Star Sports resort. The main pool at the Surf’s Up area called the Surfboard Bay Pool and the baseball field themed pool called the Grand Slam Pool.
The pools are basic. They do not have water slides and are not very big. There is a small water play area in the Surf’s Up area.
In my opinion, for a resort this size another pool would be nice. That being said my kids spent time at the pool and had a blast. They were not over crowded and they enjoyed them.
Amenities
All Star Resorts has on-site dining and basic amenities for guests. The End Zone Food Court offers breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks through the day. We ate a few meals at the food court and it was good!
I also appreciate the diverse options. From salmon and vegetables to pizza and pasta there are lots of food choices for families.
There is not table service, sit down dining, at All Star Resort or any of the Value resorts.
All Star Sports also has a small playground, a campfire pit, arcade, and laundry room for guests.
There is also daily activities and movie nights by the pool. The gift shop was being renovated during our visit but we had access to a smaller shop that had merchandise and everyday necessities.
My Review of All Star Sports at Disney World
I was a bit apprehensive about staying at All Star Sports but this was baseless because we really did have a great time. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall vibe of the resort was positive.
A big complaint about the All Star resorts is that they share buses among All Star Sports, All Star Movies, and All Star Music. This was not the case during our visit.
All Star Sports had a designated bus to transport guests. At times the buses were late or crowded but that is what you will deal with at any resort that depends on bus transportation.
Some guests may prefer to stay at Pop Century or Art of Animation to have access to the Disney Skyliner. This provides transportation to and from Epcot and Hollywood Studios. (This is why the cost is different for these value resorts.)
All Star Sports is a basic hotel at Disney World that allows guests to budget their trip. It does not feature the same amenities as the moderate or deluxe resorts, but it does offer clean rooms and a fun aesthetic for guests.
I would recommend staying at All Star Sports. If you want connecting rooms and a bit more space it is a great option. All Star Sports allows guests to stay at Disney and receive the same magical touches they expect at all the Disney World resorts.
