Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal Orlando Resort is a unique steam-punk themed restaurant at Universal CityWalk. Today we are sharing our Toothsome Chocolate Emporium review to help you decide if it should be part of your Universal vacation.
When you walk into the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen at Universal Orlando Resort you step into a steam-punk themed chocolate inspired restaurant.
From the outside, you see the smoke stacks and its steam punk factory look. As you enter the smell of sweets and the staff welcomes you. The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen is restaurant theming at its best.
You will also find a cute gift shop with treats to satisfy a sweet tooth. You may be thinking this is like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate factory but other than chocolate infused menu items Toothsome Emporium has its own unique vibe.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Location
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium is located at Universal CityWalk Orlando. It is situated between Universal Studios Florida and Universal’s Islands of Adventure.
It is a table service restaurant and because it is a very popular restaurant expect a very long wait during peak hours. You can make a dining reservation ahead of time, which I highly suggest you do. If you are arriving as a walk up they will send a text message when your table is ready.
The dining room is on the first and second floor. Some of the tables offer great views of CityWalk. There is also an outdoor patio for dining.
Guests visiting Toothsome Chocolate Emporium will want to park in the Universal CityWalk parking garage. There is a daily parking fee and it is not waived if you are dining at CityWalk.
If you are staying on-site at one of the Universal Orlando Resorts take the on-site bus transportation or walk to the restaurant from your resort.
Universal Studios Hollywood recently opened their own Toothsome location. This article is referring to the Universal Orlando location.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Character Interactions
The minute Universal Orlando Resort announced the opening of the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen I added it to the top of our list for our next visit to Orlando.
I love theme parks for the attractions but I am a big believer in eating well on vacation and the food is a huge part of what makes a theme park vacation great. When you need a break from Universal Studios or Islands of Adventure Toothsome is a great choice!
One of the things I love is that they have a full Toothsome story with character interactions. These are unique to the restaurant. The two characters are Professor Doctor Penelop Tibeaux-Tinker Toothsome and her friend the robot Jaques.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Review
My first time visiting Toothsome we had an amazing time! From our appetizer of chocolate almond bread with caramel butter to my salmon and vegetables entrée and finishing with a red velvet cupcake milkshake, Toothsome does not disappoint.
The atmosphere is immersive. The food is incredible. The milkshakes…amazing. Toothsome should be on every families “must-see” list when visiting Orlando, Florida.
On our next visit I wasn’t as impressed. The wait times were very long as we waited for our food. One of my kids even fell asleep as we waited. It was coming off of 2020 and I know it had more to do with staffing issues than the restaurant. I am hoping it has recovered a bit and am looking forward to trying again.
Overall the food was still delicious and we would include Toothsome in another visit. Let’s break down all the important things to consider to see if you should include Toothsome in your next Universal Studios Orlando trip.
The Atmosphere and the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Story
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast kitchen is themed around the story of Penelope Toothsome and her adventure to find her family.
She created the chocolate emporium to share her love of chocolate with the world. Along with her robot friend Jacques they go on a journey to find the best places to share their love of chocolate.
Penelope and Jacques walk around the restaurant stopping to talk with visitors. When we arrived at Toothsome, Jacques was walking around and we got to meet him.
My kids were kind of in awe! They didn’t know what to expect and had a really fun time meeting him. Jacques is witty and engaging and such a fun addition to the dining experience.
Penelope and Jacques also stopped by our table when we were eating our milkshakes. They talked to us about the food and of course the milkshakes! It was a really fun experience for all of us!
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Review: The Menu
The food was fantastic and not just fantastic for theme park standards, it is fantastic for any restaurant. Not many places make me want to come back for more the minute we leave, but Toothsome is an exception. The food is that good.
Some of the most popular menu items are: Philly Cheesesteak Rolls, Pork Belly Sliders, Truffle Fries, Totchos (Tater Tot Nachos), Wild Mushroom Risotto, Southern Fried Chicken BLT, Brisket and Wild Mushroom Meatloaf, Chocolate Waffle (this has a marshmallow fluff like topping). They also have Crepes, unique French Toast options, and quiche.
The menu items are on the pricier side but you will see in the pictures below you will receive full meals. They do not skimp on portions.
If you do not want a full dining experience you can stop at the Milkshake Bar to have specialty dessert options. They have a milkshake flight which allows you to try 5 different options. Guests can pick from incredible ice cream sundaes and treats that plus up your average Rice Krispies, Chocolate Peanut Butter Pie, or Chocolate Chip Cookies. Check out the full menu here.
Favorite Menu Items at Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
Appetizer: Truffle Fries and Warm Chocolate Almond Bread w/ Salted Caramel Butter
I highly recommend the Chocolate Almond Bread. We ordered it our our second time visiting as well as our first. It was warm out of the oven and the butter was sweet but not overly sweet. Everyone at the table liked it. The kids didn’t like the fries as much but it was more the Parmesan on the fries that turned them off. My husband and I liked them.
Drinks: Too Chocolate Stout(Beer)
We decided to try the Too Chocolate Stout based on a recommendation and I am so glad we did! We both like beer but I typically don’t like the darker beers. For this reason, we ordered one to try and figured we could share it. I kind of wish we had ordered two!!
This was not your typical stout beer it was a perfect mix of beer and chocolate flavor. I was surprised by how much I liked it! This beer is created specifically for the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and you can only purchase it at the restaurant.
Main Entrees a the Toothsome Chocolate Emporium
I ordered the Grilled Teriyaki Salmon and it was so nice to add some much-needed vegetables to my meals this week. My husband ordered the Pub It Up burger and loved how unique it was! He loved the queso on the burger and the crunch from the potato chips.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Kids Menu
The kid’s menu offered Waffle & Bacon, Chicken Fingers with Fries & Apple Sauce, Mini-Burgers with Fries & Apple Sauce, Marinara Garganelli Pasta, and Chicken with Rice. (As of writing this kids meals were $6.99)
My kids chose the Waffles and Chicken Fingers. They all enjoyed the food. It appears that Toothsome puts as much effort into their children’s meals as they do into everything else. It is so important when traveling with my family that my kids have quality meals that are tasty and affordable.
Toothsome Chocolate Emporium Review Milkshakes
Let’s be honest the milkshakes are the headliners and for good reason! With over 20 options and a price tag of $12.00 and up Toothsome Chocolate Emporium takes their milkshakes seriously.
If you think the milkshakes are too good to be true you are sadly mistaken. They taste as great as they look! A few of the options on the menu…
- Peanut Indulgence
- Red Velvet
- Salted Dulce de Leche
- Marshmallow Crisp
- Heavenly Hazelnut
- Strawberry Cheesecake
- Chocolate Banana Brain Freeze
- Brownie
- Bacon Brittle
- Espresso Buzzzz
- Key Lime Pie
- Chocolate X5
- Cinnamon Fantasy
We tried 2 of them…and shared. Honestly the meal was so good and we were so full!! I wish we could have tried more but it gives us another reason to return. We tried the Salted Dulce de Leche and Red Velvet.
We visited Toothsome on another visit and had the opportunity to try the Peanut Indulgence. If you love peanut butter it is a great choice.
Dulce de Leche is salted caramel ice cream, Dulce de Leche, salted pretzels, fresh whipped cream and chocolate cigars. If you order this be sure to dip the pretzels in the caramel and whipped cream. The kids loved that you could eat the chocolate cigars!
Red Velvet is vanilla ice cream, red velvet cupcake, raspberry sauce, rainbow sprinkles, fresh whipped cream, and a cherry. This was perfect not overly sweet but excellent. Not only do they have red velvet cupcake on top but they have blended bits of cupcake in the milkshake.
