We spent a few days at the West Inn and Suites as part of our 9 day Southwest road trip that took us through 3 states and many family friendly destinations.
Our road trip ended with a few nights in Carlsbad to relax and recharge during the after a lot of time on the road.
Our travel partner who hosted our stay, the West Inn and Suites, created a perfect place for family time. The location is close to all the family fun attractions and the hotel felt like our home away from home during our 3 night stay.
West Inn and Suites Carlsbad Review
The West Inn and Suites is a boutique hotel located a few blocks from the beach and Carlsbad Village.
It’s convenient location makes it a perfect spot for families. It offers a full hot breakfast, and the rooms were a hit for my family of five.
From the welcoming staff to the quiet comforts of the hotel, it is a great place for families visiting Carlsbad, California.
West Inn and Suites Room Tour
We stayed in a Premier Double King Suite. The room had a sitting area with a coffee maker, microwave, and fridge. It had 2 King beds and a view of the pool. It fit our family perfectly!

5 Reasons West Inn and Suites is a Perfect Family Hotel
Family Hotel Near LEGOLAND California
The hotel is so close to LEGOLAND. It is under 2 miles and takes about 5-10 minutes to drive. They also offer a shuttle that can take you to and from the park saving you money on parking. As of writing this parking at LEGOLAND costs $34.00 a day.
We ultimately decided to drive but the shuttle is a great option. I love the proximity to LEGOLAND California. We spent a lot of time in the car during this trip and the short drive was a nice break.
Hot Breakfast to Start Your Day
If you ask my kids they will tell you how much they loved the hot breakfast. I think it is their favorite part about staying at a hotel and the breakfast every morning was so good! As a mom, having a good breakfast to start your day is a time saver and money saver.
Spacious Rooms that Fit Our Family of Five
One of the biggest struggles of traveling as a family of five is finding rooms that fit us. The West Inn and Suites have king size beds that allowed room for everyone to get a good night sleep.
There was also a separate area to eat, relax, and stretch out in the room. This space had a pull-out sofa as well if you needed more sleeping spots.
Family Friendly Atmosphere
As soon as we arrived we felt welcome. It is a great feeling when you travel as a family to find accommodations that work for your family and make you feel at home. All the little attention to details made the West Inn and Suites feel like home.
In the evening they offered cookies and milk, the pool and hot tub were a great place to relax and unwind, and you could borrow movies and games for a family night in.
When I asked the kids what they loved the best they said everyone was so kind. All the front desk staff said hello and talked to the kids. They made us feel so welcome and that made all the difference in our stay.
The Location is Great for Visiting Southern California
The hotel is close to many family friendly attractions. We took the hour drive south to see the seals in La Jolla and enjoyed lunch at Carlsbad Village. The Flower Fields are within miles of the hotel, and it is 63 miles to Disneyland.
Although we didn’t make it to the San Diego Zoo, and other San Diego attractions, the hotel is about 22-35 miles from many San Diego family friendly destinations.
